I’ve always loved reading. People laugh when I tell them the story of me as a child sitting in a mulberry tree, reading and playing with the fairies. But that is how it was!
In 2017 I found myself at a bookstore promoting self-published authors. I mean, who knew there was such a thing? Didn’t all authors live far from the city and dream up their stories in white-marbled towers and use ink pots and fountain pens to write them?
Although I’ve discovered writing to be a lonely process, I’ve yet to meet an author who fits that stereotype! However…this magical book shop hosted gatherings of authors on a regular basis, giving those who wanted to write a way to learn the craft and mix with those who shared their love of writing.
My entrepreneurial spirit rushed forward and I founded a business on helping authors with proofreading, formatting and uploading their books to various on-line retailers. But then it happened….
One of these glorious people challenged me (yes, you read that right!) challenged me to write a story myself. “Who, me?” I scoffed. “Yes, you!” was her response.
COVID-19 changed many things. One of the saddest was that that book store closed its doors. However, it game me the time and space to take up that challenge. I wrote every day, and with the help of a writing coach to keep me motivated and steer me in the right direction, the first two books in the Love In Range series were written with the third and fourth planned by the end of 2019.
Now…I can’t help myself! There are so many story ideas floating around in my head, I’m not sure I’ll live long enough to get them all down!
